How does the SoundYou license work?
SoundYou provides music under direct licenses signed with artists and producers. This means the public-performance rights are already settled within your subscription — you don’t need to sign separate agreements with collective management organizations.
In practice you pay one flat fee instead of several invoices from different societies. The price doesn’t depend on your venue’s size or the number of plays — it’s a predictable cost you know upfront.
Right after signing up you instantly receive a Certificate of Legality as a PDF. It’s the document you show during an inspection to confirm the music in your venue is played legally. The certificate stays valid for your entire paid period.
